Strategic Planning

View all
With a strong plan in place, congregations can focus on providing their resources to individuals and families who need them most.

Strategic planning is an intentional process by which congregational leaders identify future priorities for their congregations based on mission and take the steps necessary to implement those priorities into the life of the congregation. Strategic planning is an ongoing process that keeps the congregation focused on its mission and on its future actions.

The Center for Congregations provides free consultation services to help congregational leaders develop and implement effective strategic plans. Center staff aid congregations in thinking through their mission, values, and goals so that we may begin to lay out an actionable roadmap for the future. We help congregational leaders identify strengths and weaknesses within the congregation to develop strategies for improving performance in those areas that need work. Our team of consultants provide a wide array of resources such as strategic planning templates and surveys to guide congregations through the process.

Once a strategy has been put in place, Center staff work with congregational leaders to evaluate how well the plan is working and what may need to be adapted going forward. With a strong plan in place, congregations can focus on providing their resources to individuals and families who need them most.
