Whether a congregation has 100 or 10,000 people, effective management of day-to-day operations is important to ensuring good stewardship of the church. The Center for Congregations works with clergy, staff, laity and members to help them find resources to handle issues revolving around daily congregational life. Center staff listen as these congregational leaders identify the needs in their faith communities and help them develop a strategy for managing church operations. Center staff provide assistance with the day-to-day aspects of congregational life such as budgeting, facilities management, staff development, volunteer support, and navigating how work gets done. From church board governance to legal and risk management, Center staff research and identify the resources that best address a congregation’s questions. In addition to these tools and resources, the Center for Congregations also offers grants to fund resources for projects benefiting day-to-day operations. Our resource grants have provided Indiana congregations with funds for software, architects, fundraising consultants, strategic planning consultants, attendance at educational workshops, and more.
The Center for Congregations is funded by Lilly Endowment, Inc. and is a supporting organization of the Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis and Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary.
