Congregations are called to be a part of the work of God in their community. The Center for Congregations aids congregations in developing ministries to meet community needs and make social change. The Center provides resources, consulting, and training for Indiana congregations that want to create or expand ministries with impact in their communities. Our mission is to empower congregations to live out their faith through engagement in their communities. We believe that it is important for congregations to participate in making society better, as well as allowing individuals to grow spiritually. Center resource consultants have been trained in community organizing skills and can help faith leaders identify potential partners and projects for their congregation. We use an assessment process to identify community needs and strengths before starting a new ministry. We also have resources that can help you plan your ministry, including toolkits for starting a new project or program.
The Center for Congregations is funded by Lilly Endowment, Inc. and is a supporting organization of the Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis and Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary.
