Cultivating a Church with Vibrant Purpose

You can discern God’s purpose and the path God is calling your congregation to walk. On October 22 and 23, 2009, in Indianapolis and Fort Wayne, Graham Standish explored the loss of spiritual vibrancy in many congregations and how to restore that vitality and enthusiasm. Based on his book Becoming a Blessed Church, Standish discussed ways to lead your congregation to become a blessed church.

What is a blessed church?

  • It is a church uniquely grounded in a relationship with God that allows blessings to flow through it.
  • It is a church with a vibrant sense of faith, hope and love.
  • It is a church that embraces the sacred and that is not afraid to serve God in its own way.

The workshop described how a church that is open to God’s purpose, presence and power can claim God’s blessing. Cultivating a Church with Vibrant Purpose will help you find God in your midst and become aware of the many ways the blessings of God’s Spirit flow through your congregation.

Standish is pastor of Calvin Presbyterian Church in Pennsylvania, which has more than doubled in attendance during his 12 years there. A leader in the area of spirituality, spiritual direction and congregational leadership, Standish is working on his sixth book.
