Internet Strategies for Your Congregation

Dave Bourgeois
Thursday, September 17, Newburgh
Friday, September 18, Brownstown

What’s the role of internet technology for the local congregation? What methods are effective for thinking strategically about internet use in our congregations? What can we do and what should we do with internet technology? How can we develop our own plan for using the web in our congregation?

The workshop Internet Strategies for Your Congregation will help congregational leaders to develop strategies for their use of the internet. Combining presentation materials with interactive discussion, participants will gain a better understanding of how to implement (or improve) the use of the internet for their congregations.

Although this is not a website creation or technology "how to" class, presenter Dave Bourgeois explores with participants useful and relevant information to help congregations discover practical uses for internet technology, ways to implement those ideas, and how to move forward with a plan of action. Bourgeois will review the results of a two-year study of effective practices of internet use in congregations. He will also incorporate case studies of congregations who are successful at using the internet and examine reasons for their success.

Bourgeois is an information systems and technology educator at Biola University in Southern California. His research interests are in the areas of faith, technology, and how they can work cooperatively.

The workshop is 9 a.m.-4 p.m. (Central time) Thursday, September 17, at First Christian Church, 4544 Old State Road 261, Newburgh, and 9 a.m.-4 p.m. (Eastern time) Friday, September 18, at Brownstown Christian Church, 702 W. Spring St. The workshop fee is $30 a person ($25 a person for congregational teams of three or more). Registrations received by September 11 guarantee lunch and a copy of the book The Hidden Power of Electronic Culture by Shane Hipps.

Events are limited to Indiana congregations.
