Congregations and Military Families

Congregations all across Indiana have families whose members are serving in the military. Here in Indiana, we also have an excellent resource that conducts research about, with, and for military families. The Military Family Research Institute at Purdue University develops and delivers outreach activities for the military and civilian infrastructures supporting military families.

What’s the connection to congregations? Perhaps your congregation already has a program or ministry for military families. Maybe you are developing a new outreach program because your town has a large number of people serving in the military. Or perhaps there are a few congregants with immediate or extended family members serving right now and you want to learn more about what they might be experiencing.

The Military Family Research Institute is an important local resource for congregations touched by service men and service women and their families.  You can learn about resources for military families, emerging military family issues, how to assist, learn what the institute is learning, and discover other conversation partners.
