Rev. Timothy Shapiro, D.Min.

Tim is the Indianapolis Center's President. He comes to the Center after eighteen years in pastoral ministry. For fourteen years, Tim served Westminster Presbyterian Church in Xenia, Ohio. Prior to his pastorate at Westminster, he was pastor of Bethlehem Presbyterian Church in Logansport, Indiana. He's an Indianapolis native and North Central High School graduate. He holds degrees from Purdue University and Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary.

Tim has served as Alumni-in-Residence at Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary, a commissioner at the Presbyterian Church (USA) General Assembly, and studied family systems theory under Edwin Friedman. He also worked to help Xenia recover from its third significant tornado in three decades by serving as president of the Greene County Tornado Recovery Task Force.

After his extensive work on the Center's Sacred Space initiative, Tim co-authored the book Holy Places: Matching Sacred Space with Mission and Message. He has also authored several articles, including Homegrown Theology: Understanding God in Everyday LifeThe Congregation as Author and Being the Exception to the Rule.
